ActionSA said that the local government election results reflect the efforts of the party to mobilise voters and encourage South Africans to participate in the democratic process.

The party's national chairperson, Michael Beaumont, said the party has secured 54 wards across 3 Gauteng metros.

The party has garnered 16.8% of the votes in the City of Johannesburg, 22.4% in Tshwane, and 16.29% in Ekurhuleni so far.

He said ActionSA has spent much of its campaign urging voters to make their voices heard at the ballot box, and believes the results so far show that message is resonating.

The party said it will now have to build on this support as it seeks to strengthen its presence in the three metros.

“I do just want to say that during this campaign, we spent a great deal of time saying to the people of South Africa that you're never gonna get change from doing the same things over and over again. It is not the case that we're gonna take credit for these numbers; the people of South Africa deserve that credit. They have decided that it's time to change their votes from political parties that have failed them over a very long time, and the fact that we have been given that opportunity is something we're greatly honoured by, but we also know that if we don't deliver, we'll be out,” said Beaumont.
