Build One South Africa (BOSA) mayoral candidate for Cape Town Roger Solomons has highlighted some concerns related to the voting process at certain voting stations in the metro.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in the Western Cape has assured voters it has managed to clear the logistical backlogs that plagued the first two days of special voting.

Printing delays left over 200 voting stations without ballot papers on Monday morning, forcing elderly and vulnerable voters to wait for hours.

Solomons said BOSA candidates also experienced other issues related to ballots.

“Two of our candidates have also been refused two ballots. They are registered at a voting district, they’re on the system, they’re on the voters’ roll, but the IEC could only give them one ballot. When we enquired about it, it wasn’t quite clear what the reason was. We escalated it and this morning we received a directive that it’s been resolved... that nobody is allowed to only get one ballot. If you are registered to vote, you should be getting two ballots,” he said.
