The DA has declared an early victory in the City of Cape Town to extend its two-decade-long control of the metro.
In a victory parade outside the Western Province Results Operation Centre, the party’s incoming mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has predicted a 58 percent win in the city with less than 30 percent of the votes officially tallied for the metro.
Hill-Lewis has thanked party supporters, particularly in the townships, for throwing their weight behind the blue wave, where it recorded its best-ever performance.
