With the vote capture and verification process very close to concluded, the Democratic Alliance (DA) says it will engage likeminded parties to discuss forming coalition agreements in hung councils.

By 5.30pm Saturday afternoon, 130 councils across the country had no clear outright majority.

The DA said that following their strong performance, their federal executive met on Saturday and resolved to initiate discussions with political parties with a shared commitment to clean and accountable government.

The party's Federal Council Chairperson Ashor Surapen said, "The DA's coalition discussions are being coordinated nationally under the DA's Federal Executive's Authority to ensure consistent, principled approach across the country."
