After having claimed an early victory in the City of Cape Town today, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has also secured 4 municipalities outside of the metro so far.

With 63% of voting districts captured, the DA has sewn up the Swartland, Berg River, Drakenstein and Hessequa municipalities.
By 17h30, the party had secured 54% of the vote in the province, with the ANC trailing with 13.85% and the Patriotic Alliance 10.1%.
In the City of Cape Town, the DA is leading with more than 60% of the vote, but only 36 of the vote has so far been tallied.

ActionSA also has reason to celebrate in the Western Cape tonight.
It’s the leading party in the Laingsburg municipality, where it will have to form a coalition to govern, with only a percentage separating it from the DA and ANC, which were neck and neck.
