The final local government election results in the Western Cape are expected soon, with Cape Town the only municipality still outstanding.
While the DA remains on course for a comfortable majority in the metro, the IEC is still dealing with the last outstanding votes and two objections.
At 7pm on Friday, the metro was the only municipality in the Western Cape where results were outstanding, with about 70 voting slips to be tallied.
The IEC said that the numbers will continue to be updated on its results dashboard as the final count is concluded.
Western Cape provincial electoral officer Michael Hendrickse said that two objections lodged during the election process further delayed the count.
"In our case, we have been dealing with some objections, and we have responded to them. So we're also waiting for the outcome from the commission. I cannot give you the details of the specifics."
