Some residents in Hillbrow said they were hopeful that their votes would yield job creation.

A recycler who was working outside the Joubert Park voting station said all he wanted was to get a job and a better education for his children.
“When we're done voting, we want jobs and better education for our children. I don't work. I just recycle to get money. I will vote as I am a South African,” he said.
Echoing the same sentiments were the young voters at Wits University, who also shared that they needed the government to create more jobs.
