Several political parties in KwaZulu-Natal are holding final election campaign rallies in a last-minute push to win over voters.

KZN is set to be hotly contested, with the emergence of the MK Party expected to disrupt established political order in the province.

The polls open on Monday morning for early voting in the 2026 local government elections.

The ANC has deployed its secretary general to eThekwini for its final Siyanqoba rally at Curries Fountain Stadium.

The party faces a difficult struggle to maintain its 26-year grip on governance in KZN’s only metro, with several election polls predicting a further decline in support.

The MK Party, which is predicted to be the biggest party in eThekwini, is also holding its final rally in the city at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

MK Party president Jacob Zuma is expected to make his first public appearance following a recent sick scare where he was in hospital for about a week.

Meanwhile, the IFP is holding its final rally in Ulundi, north of KZN, where the party has historically enjoyed popular support.
