The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party continues to garner more support and municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) as more votes get counted.

At 68% of the vote count in the province, the MK Party leads the province in votes received and municipal council secured.

This is its first time contesting local government elections.

At 68% of the vote tally in KZN, the uMkhonto weSizwe Party is leading in 12 municipalities.

This means it has received the most votes in those municipalities.

So far, it’s still the only party to win an outright majority in the province.

Out of the 12 municipalities, the MK Party received the most votes, and in three of them it secured an outright majority.

These are Richmond, Impendle and the Johannes Pumani Phungula Local municipalities.

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and African National Congress(ANC) have received the most votes in three and two municipalities, respectively; however, they have both failed to win an outright majority in any of them.
