The leader of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, Jacob Zuma, has spoken out for the first time since being discharged from hospital.
The party posted a video of Zuma on its social media platforms late Friday night, addressing South Africans ahead of the municipal elections.
In the video, Zuma urges registered voters to support his political party as they head to the ballot next week.
Zuma said his political party is ready to take over municipalities across the country.
“I am wishing that everyone will vote and vote correctly, but more than anything, vote for uMkhonto weSizwe. I would be very happy. And I am certain that there will be a lot of people who will do so.”
Zuma believes his new political home is the only one that can bring change.
“South Africans who have been put under very difficult circumstances for years, this is the time for them to take over and make this country a country of peace. On the 4th of November, we expect that South Africans will vote in their numbers.”
Several election polls have suggested that the MK Party is likely to emerge as the biggest political organisation in eThekwini after next week’s elections.
