African Mayibuye Movement leader Floyd Shivambu said he is satisfied that his party has managed to establish its presence in municipalities across the country.
The former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) deputy president’s political party contested its first local government elections this year.
However, the party has struggled to make a significant impact, failing to secure a place in the top 10 on the national results leaderboard.
Speaking to journalists at the national results operations centre in Midrand, Shivambu acknowledged that the party’s electoral support remains relatively low but said he’s nevertheless satisfied.
“We could have decided to launch ourselves in Limpopo, and concentrate in Gauteng. We have spread the presence of the African Mayibuye Movement across the entire South Africa.”
